Board of Directors

Friends of Harvey Milk Plaza is governed by an engaged and deeply committed Board of Directors composed of civic leaders, LGBTQ+ advocates, philanthropic partners, and professionals with expertise in finance, law, design, community development, and nonprofit leadership.

As stewards of one of the most significant LGBTQ+ historic sites in the world, the Board understands both the symbolic and practical responsibility of this work. Their collective leadership ensures that the reimagined Plaza will not only honor history, but serve as a living space of belonging, courage, and civic engagement for generations to come.

Friends of Harvey Milk Plaza is a volunteer-run organization operating without permanent paid staff. The people advancing this work do so out of deep personal commitment to Harvey Milk’s legacy and the community he served.

Board members maintain 100% annual financial participation and serve as active ambassadors for the campaign, demonstrating personal commitment to the Plaza’s long-term sustainability and impact. The Board operates through standing committees to ensure rigorous oversight, strong fiduciary responsibility, and strategic advancement of campaign goals.
